 Meylin Gonzales Huaman

Meylin Gonzales Huamán is a second-year graduate student in sociology at Harvard University. She is broadly interested in the intersection between immigration, gender, and employment. 
 
She is currently developing a project  to unpack the incorporation of immigrants into different gender norms as they move from more gender equal to less gender equal contexts. Her study focuses on immigrants’ job search and employment experiences, empirically drawing from the case of Venezuelan immigrants migrating to Peru. 
 
Earlier this year Meylin coauthored “Co-producing ethnoracial categories: census-takers in the 2017 Peruvian National Census,” published at the journal Latin American and Caribbean Ethnic Studies, based on her master thesis research where she examined the ways in which census-takers influence the production of ethno-racial categories in Peru. She is also the coauthor of a policy brief published in collaboration with the International Organization of Migration that outlines the impacts of climate change on internal migration and community-level adaptation measures adopted in Semarang and Jakarta, Indonesia.
