Using new documents from the author’s archives, Álvaro Santana-Acuña goes beyond the many legends that surround it, to show how a novel that was destined for obscurity became among one of the bestselling books of all time.</p><p>	Santana-Acuña unveils the literary ideas and networks that made the book’s creation and initial success possible.
