**Research interests:** Intersections of sociology of law, bureaucracy and the state, race and racism and sociology of empires.

**Bio:** Yael is currently exploring two projects: one looking at citizenship as a mobility regime in societies with pronounced racial/national inequalities, particularly Israel/Palestine and India and the other is an exploration of cultural appropriation, focusing on the inequalities of boundary crossing between racialized groups.
