Senior Professor of Sociology at Lund University, Sweden
My current research involves accounts of work injuries or sickness particularly those resulting from a work based process directed towards the professional identity of a worker. I am focusing on the narratives created by women employed in women dominated professions within the public sector in Sweden. These narratives are being produced as a result of experiences of an alienating work place resulting in illness. The narratives are slowly changing the understanding of professions previously seen by women as leading to desirable jobs, to professions that should be avoided. The narratives allow for a development of new ways of looking at changing barriers for women at work. They also lead to a deeper exploration of the subtle changing face of inequality and inclusion in the workforce. At present I am a SCANCOR visiting scholar and a Senior Professor of Sociology at Lund University, Sweden.
