Camille Hamidi is associate professor of political science at the University of Lyon, France. She is a political sociologist and she studies ordinary forms of politicization, the political behavior of ethnic minorities, and collective action of migrants. She also works on voluntary associations and civil society. Hamidi has an interest in ethnographic and qualitative methods.
Camille Hamidi is interested in the role non-profits play in the local political system. While being a fellow at the WCIFA she will conduct ethnographic work to study the policies of food aid and emergency housing in the Boston area, analyzing the role that non-profits play in the local ecosystem, in relation to public authorities, businesses, foundations, and faith-based organizations. This research is part of a bigger project she is conducting on civil society regimes in western democratic societies.
