Gözde is examining the social organization of economic exchange and patterns of decision-making in diverse market settings. In one study, she is looking at price-setting decisions of informal market actors by combining experimental and qualitative evidence in order to shed light on economic decision-making and the emergence of market inequalities. She is also investigating whether states’ status displays on the global stage influence market evaluations of their creditworthiness. The study suggests that status displays help improve impressions of creditworthiness in the eyes of consequential audiences.
