Lewis Krashinsky

Research interests: Labor unions; working-class politics; comparative political behaviour; Canadian and American electoral politics.

Bio: Lewis Krashinsky is the William Lyon Mackenzie King Postdoctoral Fellow at Harvard University and the Weatherhead Center for International Affairs. Previously, he was a SSHRC Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Political Science at the University of Toronto. He received his PhD in politics from Princeton University (2024), an MSc in comparative politics from the London School of Economics (2017), and a BA in political science and economics from McGill University (2016). His research focuses on Canadian and American politics, white working-class voting, labor unions, and social identity. 

Research summary: While at Harvard, Krashinsky will be completing revisions on his forthcoming book Across the Detroit River (at University of Toronto Press), which examines why white working-class Canadians are more supportive of left-wing parties while white working-class Americans have swung in large numbers to the Republican Party. He will also be continuing his ongoing work on the 2025 Canadian federal election, and issues relating to identity, class, and labor unions in Canada and the United States. Going forward, he will also be launching a new empirical study on the comparative role of national identity in Canada and the United States.
