Yossi's research deals with the interaction between global inequality, citizenship regimes and national identity. He focuses on two conflicting trends: on the one hand, the growing commodification of national citizenship through investor visas and dual citizenship; on the other hand, top-down attempts by governments to re-establish citizenship as sacred and significant by way of rituals and ceremonies.
